On the occasion of the 20th birthday of Ningbo Museum of Art, we are pleased to unveil the “Classic Oil Paintings at NMA”, a feast that brings together the essence of time and art. Over the past two decades, we have been committed to searching for art treasures in China and overseas, and our collection has already exceeded 5,000 pieces, including works of many international art giants such as Claude Monet and Paul Cézanne, as well as masterpieces of Chinese artists such as Li Keran, Pan Tianshou, and Quan Shanshi.
In this exhibition, we focus on Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and the classic oil paintings under their influences at home and abroad, which have become indispensable treasures in the human cultural heritage due to their unique artistic styles and profound art connotations. Through careful selection and organization, we endeavour to present a visual and spiritual feast, so that the audience, while appreciating the beauty of art, can also gain a deeper understanding of the artistic essence of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, and feel their far-reaching impact on the art development in later generations.
In particular, we present Monet's authentic paintings in our collection for the first time (29 January - 2 March only) as a highlight of the exhibition. We try to make it possible for every viewer to closely experience the remarkable lights and colors of the master. Now, let's step into this dialogue between art and history, travel between the classic and the modern, and experience the eternal charm of oil paintings.
